Day 8 of Lent 25 February 2010 (Thursday)
Meditation> Story of the Poor
"I am 51. I remember that when I was young it rained a lot in my village; it was nice and cool and the river flowed all year round. I would pass through a beautiful forest on my way to school. Such beauty does not exist anymore," a Malawian farmer recounted sadly.Rainfall is becoming more erratic and there is less each year. The streams and rivers are drying up – which are the source of drinking water. Many rural areas do not have adequate water. The water table is now deeper than before. Many years ago, October was the month when rains would come. Now, it has changed to December and it is never consistent. The agriculture cycle is negatively affected and brings food insecurity.

Carbon Fast> Pray for the poor
Pray that God will moisten the farmland in Malawi with rain, so that the crops will grow and the farmers can earn their living.
