Day 37 of Lent   31 March 2010 (Wednesday)

Hymn Meditation> “Via Dolorosa”

Down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
The Man condemned to die on Calvary

He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon His back
And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head
And He bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for His death

Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King,
But He chose to walk that road out of
His love for you and me.
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
Made its way through the heart of Jerusalem.

Please read Rom 5:6–11.  Jesus is willing to get onto the road of suffering with his blood to get God’s conciliation with human and men’s restoration, how ought to be our responses?

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Rome 12:1–2.)

> Reflect and Pray

In the past few weeks did you feel in your carbon fast activities any inconvenience to persons on your side or pressure due to main-stream value?  Wishing the said verses in Rome give you comfort and encouragement.  For the love and humility of Jesus Christ, you may also whole-heartedly follow his foot-steps in offering.  For pleasing the God, you may be able to test and live out the way that being God’s will – his good, pleasing and perfect will.
